Colorado Rocky Mountain High!

Hey friends! See I told you I’d be back! We had such a wonderful time on our mini-vacation out west. It really wasn’t that bad of a drive (Brian did most of it) and it was so good to see friends and some beautiful scenery.

We left before the sun even came up on Thursday morning. I had packed some healthy snacks for the long drive.

We arrived at Trent and Michelle’s after 13 1/2 hours of driving. We took a little walk to the park with the girls just to stretch our legs. The weather in Colorado is AMAZING! It was hot but there was no humidity so felt great to be outside. We ate some pizza for dinner and then called it an early night.

On Friday I got up early for a nice five mile run with the Rockies as my back drop. It felt so good to run without humidity and in some nice  cool morning weather. The altitude didn’t even bother me!

After a quick shower and breakfast we headed up to the mountains to hike in Rockie Mountain National Park.

We took a beautiful three mile hike up to Ouzel Falls. The trail followed this rushing river almost the whole way.

Before we reached the falls we saw Calypso Cascades

We really started climbing after Calypso Cascades in order to reach the falls.

It was well worth the hike!

100_0955  After our hike we were SUPER hungry! We drove back to Estes Park to eat at the Estes Park Brewery.

Brian and I sampled all their beer! I really enjoyed the blueberry, raspberry wheat, and the gold. We ended up buying a few six packs and eating a delicious lunch there!

After lunch we drove up the Ridgeway Trail for some more spectacular views!

We also saw some impressive wildlife! Here’s a GIANT Bull Elk!

After our scenic drive we headed back to Trent and Michelle’s for some dinner and a movie then called it a night! Stay tuned for more of our adventures!
